SO I RECENTLY ATTENDED AND SPOKE AT THE GRADUATION OF THE SOMERSET COUNTY VO-TECH SCHOOL. IT WAS A VERY NICE EVENT, DESPITE THEY DID HAVE IT INSIDE BECAUSE OF THE THUNDERSTORMS OUTSIDE. BUT IT WAS A VERY NICE EVENT. I JUST WANTED TO AGAIN CONGRATULATE ALL THE RECENT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES AND LAST WEEK THE GREATER RARITAN WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD MET. AND I KNOW I TALKED ABOUT THIS AT THE LAST MEETING, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT MY VOICE DIDN'T COME ACROSS VERY WELL. I SOUNDED KIND OF LIKE DARTH VADER, BUT YOU COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS SAYING. SO I WANT TO SAY THIS AGAIN BECAUSE THIS IS A REALLY GOOD PROGRAM. THEY HAD A MEET YOUR GOVERNING OFFICIALS EVENT AND REPRESENTATIVES FROM VARIOUS LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT WERE THERE. SO THANKS TO THE MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS IN PEAPACK, IT WAS A REALLY GREAT EVENT AND I MET SOME REALLY WONDERFUL PEOPLE THERE. I ALSO ATTENDED THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA AT THE TEMPLE IN BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP. I GOT TO, AS I SAID, IT WAS THE MOST COMFORTABLE CLOTHING I WAS ABLE TO WEAR TO A COUNTY EVENT. AND I DID GET A CHANCE TO PRACTICE A LITTLE YOGA. AND AS KEY WORD THERE IS PRACTICE BECAUSE I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING THERE. BUT IT WAS A GREAT WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY. THE TEMPLE REALLY REACHED OUT TO EVERYONE TO MAKE IT READILY ACCESSIBLE AND GIVE PEOPLE A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON ALL THE BENEFITS OF YOGA. SO THANKS TO THEM. ALSO, TO ECHO THE DIRECTOR, THE JUNETEENTH EVENT WAS VERY, VERY WELL DONE. SO EVERYONE WHO PUT EVERYTHING TOGETHER, IT WAS I DON'T KNOW, THEY JUST GET BETTER EVERY YEAR. THEY GET MORE FUN AND MORE FUN EVERY YEAR. SO THANKS TO EVERYBODY ON THAT ONE, ESPECIALLY AS THE LIAISON TO CULTURAL AND HERITAGE, THAT TEAM THAT ALWAYS IS IN CHARGE OF OUR EVENTS IN THE COUNTY FOR THEIR GOOD WORKS THERE. A COUPLE OF THINGS REMINDER, WE'RE CLOSING OUT ON THE MONTH OF JUNE. THAT MEANS WE'RE CLOSING OUT ON CURBING HUNGER MONTH. SO THERE'S ALWAYS A TIME TO DONATE TO A FOOD BANK. BUT PARTICULARLY NOW, IF YOU'RE GETTING A RECYCLING PICKUP, PLEASE REMEMBER TO PUT THOSE ORANGE BAGS OR ANY BAG ON TOP OF YOUR RECYCLING BUCKET MARKET FOOD AND WE'LL BRING IT IN AND GET IT TO THE FOOD BANKS FOR DISTRIBUTION. OUR OWN WALTER LANE AND TOM BOCCHINO LED A REALLY NICE, INTERESTING SESSION ON THE SOMERSET COUNTY PRESERVATION PLAN AND HOW THE COUNTY HAS WORKED WITH NONPROFITS LIKE THE SOUTHLAND CONSERVANCY, THE STOUTSBURG SARA AND AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY, COLLABORATIVELY TO PRESERVE LAND AND HISTORIC RESOURCES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY. DR. LANE ALSO SERVED ON A PANEL ABOUT THE STATE DEVELOPMENT AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN, WHERE HE HIGHLIGHTED HOW SOMERSET COUNTY HAS WORKED WITH OUR TOWNS TO ADVANCE GOOD REGIONAL PLANNING EFFORTS AS ENVISIONED IN THE STATE PLAN. SEVERAL OTHER PANELISTS ALSO STATED THAT SOMERSET COUNTY IS A GREAT, EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF REGIONAL PLANNING EFFORTS AND A LEADER IN THE STATE. SO I WANT TO THANK YOU, WALTER, FOR ALL YOUR ALL YOUR SUPPORT THERE. LEADING GOOD PLANNING. ALSO LAST WEEK I ATTENDED THE GRADUATION CEREMONY FOLLOWING A 40 HOUR, 40 HOURS OF CRISIS INTERVENTION TRAINING. [00:10:02] CERTAINLY I WAS ONLY INTENDED FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, BUT I COULD TELL THAT THE OFFICERS WHO WERE THERE WERE HAD LEARNED A GREAT DEAL. AND THIS TRAINING WAS SUPPORTED BY THE COUNTY PROSECUTOR AND THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT. SO I WANT TO THANK YOU, PROSECUTOR JOHN DONALD AND ALSO MIKE FROST AND MEG WIERZBICKI, WHO DID A TREMENDOUS JOB REALLY PULLING THIS TOGETHER. THIS TRAINING ALLOWED POLICE OFFICERS FROM AROUND THE COUNTY AND AS WELL AS SHERIFF AND PROSECUTOR'S OFFICERS TO ATTEND THIS IMPORTANT TRAINING TO IMPROVE THEIR SKILLS IN DEALING WITH PEOPLE IN A CRISIS SITUATION. HOWEVER, THERE HAS BEEN QUITE A LOT OF RAIN WE JUST HAD, AND I UNDERSTAND THAT NORTH BRANCH PARK WAS SIGNIFICANTLY UNDER WATER. SO THE PARK FACILITY IS STILL PLANNING TO HAVE THE FIREWORKS. BUT STAY TUNED. RIGHT NOW, I BELIEVE THEY'RE ORGANIZING PARKING ARRANGEMENTS AT RARITAN VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND A SHUTTLE OVER TO NORTH BRANCH PARK. SO THAT'S GOING TO CONTINUE. BUT I WOULD SAY CLOSE TO THE YOUR NEWS ON THAT, IF THINGS DRY OUT, MAYBE WE'LL BE ABLE TO HELP WITH SOME PARKING. BUT NEVERTHELESS, LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT EVENT. IS THERE A MOTION TO ADD THE ABOVE RESOLUTION 23 DASH 13 THROUGH 23 1350 TO THE CONSENT AGENDA FOR OUR JULY 11TH MEETING. MOTION SECOND. ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? I WOULD JUST LIKE FOR THE RECORD. SO IF 23, 13, 14 IF YOU COULD JUST FACT CHECK, I BELIEVE THERE'S SOME CONCERNS WITH THE FORDS 2016 AND HIGHER 23, 1314 THEY'RE ASKING FOR 2023 INTERCEPTOR A FORD. UM, YOU KNOW, I REMEMBER READING AND HEARING SOMEWHERE ABOUT THE 26 TEENS AND HIGHER, ESPECIALLY WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT, THAT YOU CAN ONLY GET THE VEHICLES REPAIRED AT FORD CERTIFIED FACILITIES, WHICH THERE'S LESS THAN TEN INCHES THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, AND THAT THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH PRICING WITH SOME OF THESE VEHICLES, WITH THE LIGHTS, THE BUMPERS. AND BECAUSE OF THE COST OF THESE REPAIRS THAT THOSE VEHICLES BY INSURANCE COMPANIES HAVE BEEN DEEMED AS TOTALED. SO IF THERE IS ANOTHER IF THAT PANS OUT TO BE TRUE, MAYBE WE COULD LOOK FOR ANOTHER TYPE OF VEHICLE. I KNOW VEHICLES WERE ON BACK ORDER DURING THE TIME, BUT IF THAT PANS OUT TO BE TRUE, IF YOU CAN FIND THAT INFORMATION BY THE NEXT MEETING. IF NOTHING FURTHER. A ROLL CALL, PLEASE. COMMISSIONER DRAKE? YES. COMMISSIONER MARANO. YES. DEPUTY DIRECTOR SINGLETERRY. YES. DIRECTOR ROBINSON. YES. AND WE HAVE SEVERAL ITEMS TO BE ADOPTED AT OUR REGULAR MEETING. 23 1267 IS RESOLUTION AUTHORIZATION AUTHORIZING AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO A RIGHT OF ENTRY AGREEMENT WITH THE FERREIRA CONSTRUCTION COMPANY. 1268 IS AUTHORIZING FUNDING UNDER THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A MULTI-USE FACILITY ON COUNTY OWNED PROPERTY TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SPACE FOR COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS, IT SERVICES AND IMPROVED PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSES. THAT IS IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROJECT MR. LOPER DESCRIBED BECAUSE OF THE PART USE OF IT, A PORTION OF THE BUILDING ROUGHLY 25%. WE CAN UTILIZE ARP FUNDING FOR THAT. SO THIS JUST SETS THAT IN PLACE SO THAT WE CAN START DRAWING DOWN ON THAT. 23. 1269 IS AUTHORIZED AN ADDITIONAL FUNDING UNDER THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FOR SEWER AND [00:35:05] WATER INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE BOROUGH OF SOUTH BOUND BROOK. PREVIOUSLY, WE HAD AWARDED VARIOUS MUNICIPALITIES SOUTH BOUND BROOK. SO FAR HAS BEEN THE ONLY ONE TO GO OUT TO BID. THEY ACTUALLY WENT OUT TO BID TWICE. THEY CHANGED THE SCOPE OF THE BID TWICE. BOTH SETS OF BIDS CAME IN HIGHER THAN THE AMOUNT WE AWARDED. WE STILL FEEL IT'S A VIABLE PRODUCT PROJECT. MELISSA AND I CHECKED OUT THE BIDS. THEY'RE ALL COMPLIANT. THEY'VE DONE THEIR DUE DILIGENCE. SO IT'S AN ADDITIONAL FUNDING OF $600,000, BUT IT BRINGS THE TOTAL UP TO ABOUT 2.2 FOR THE PROJECT. SO THAT'S WHAT THAT RESOLUTION DOES. THEY WOULD THEN AWARD IT IN THEIR NEXT MEETING IN JULY, AND THAT PROJECT WOULD BEGIN MY UNDERSTANDING BY SPEAKING TO THEIR SIDE. THAT PROJECT WOULD BE UNDERTAKEN IN THE FALL. SO IT'S A PROJECT THAT ACTUALLY WILL START. UM. 1270. REFERENCES BACK TO WHAT DEPUTY DIRECTOR WAS TALKING ABOUT. THE EXECUTION OF CONTRACTS BETWEEN THE GREATER WB AND THE LITERACY VOLUNTEERS OF SOMERSET COUNTY, HUNTERDON COUNTY EDUCATIONAL SERVICES COMMISSION AND RARITAN VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, AND THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $79,250 FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FUNDED LITERACY INITIATIVE. THIS IS FOR ABOUT ANOTHER 30 OR SO KIDS, OUR YOUTH AND WE'RE PROBABLY AT. RIGHT BEFORE I LEFT, JEAN GOT ONE MORE MATCH, SO WE'RE NEARLY THERE. I'LL BE BACK ONCE MORE. YES, MA'AM. ANY STUDENTS OR YOUNG PEOPLE DO WE HAVE IN THAT PROGRAM NOW? SO IF ALL WORKS OUT, WE'LL HAVE AT LEAST 76 AND WE HAVE FUNDING FOR 80, AND WE'RE GOING TO SEE IF WE CAN FIND A WAY FOR THAT, ANOTHER FOUR TO GET TO THE 80. GREAT JOB ON THAT. THAT'S SUCH A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THESE YOUNG PEOPLE AND FOR EVERYONE LOOKING FOR HELP THESE DAYS. IS THERE A MOTION TO CLOSE THE PUBLIC PORTION OF. MAYBE I'LL SAY SOMETHING NOW BECAUSE I GOT A LOT OF THINGS TO SAY, BUT I'LL TRY TO KEEP IT SHORT. WELL, FIRST OFF, I'D LIKE TO POINT OUT IN NEW JERSEY, THE GOVERNMENTS FROM THE TOP DOWN, THE LEGAL GOVERNMENT WAS FROM THE BOTTOM UP TO START OFF WITH. AND IT WAS A GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE. WE'VE BEEN USING WAR MONEY EVER SINCE WORLD WAR TWO, AND FDR NEVER RESCINDED THE THE WAR POWERS ACT. AND, YOU KNOW, WE WENT TO WAR WITHOUT A DECLARATION OF WAR IN VIETNAM. AND I DON'T KNOW IF THAT THAT PROBABLY WAS ILLEGAL, TOO, BECAUSE THEY MENTIONED THE GULF OF TONKIN OR SOMETHING. BUT ANYWAY, WHEN YOU USE WAR MONEY, THIS IS NOT A STABLE CURRENCY. A STABLE CURRENCY SHOULD SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY MORE THAN 1% INFLATION. SO WE'RE LOOKING RIGHT NOW AT 16% INFLATION HERE. UH, MIKE PENCE. HE MENTIONED IT THE OTHER DAY. THE PRESIDENT SAID THAT THE IS FROM THE MIDDLE. I WAS LISTENING TO LARRY KUDLOW AND STEVE MOORE, AND THEY COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT. THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HE MEANT. BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT EITHER. SO DO YOU KNOW WHAT HE MEANT? I DON'T KNOW. NO, I CAN'T FIGURE THAT OUT. BUT ANYWAY, THEN WE GO FROM HERE. WELL, ANYWAY. UH. ONE THING I WANT TO MENTION HERE. THAT MONEY CREATES INFLATION FOREVER UNTIL IT'S WORTHLESS. THEN THE COUNTRY IS FINISHED. SO AND I JUST WANT TO MENTION GEORGE. GEORGE SOROS MAKES BILLIONS OF DOLLARS BETTING AGAINST CURRENCY. THAT'S HOW HE MAKES HIS MONEY. IF HE CAN DESTROY A CURRENCY AND HE CAN MAKE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, HE DID IT IN ENGLAND. AND THIS IS HOW HE MAKES BILLIONS OF DOLLARS DOING THIS STUFF. SO HE'S A HORRIBLE MAN. HE SHOULD BE PUT IN JAIL FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE. BUT, I MEAN, THIS IS THE KIND OF, YOU KNOW, A COUNTRY CAN BE DESTROYED ONCE YOUR CURRENCY IS GONE. THAT'S ALL I'LL SAY RIGHT NOW. HEARING NONE AND SEEING NONE. IS THERE A MOTION TO CLOSE THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THIS MEETING? SO MOVED. SECOND. ALL IN FAVOR? AYES HAVE IT. WE WILL MOVE RIGHT INTO OUR REGULAR MEETING. * This transcript was compiled from uncorrected Closed Captioning.
