[00:00:26]
COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN PUBLIC MEETINGS ACT OF THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY ON JANUARY 12TH, 2023-ADEQUATE NOTICE OF THIS MEETING WAS PROVIDED AS REQUIRED BY LAW.FOR PUBLIC ACCESS, PLEASE EMAIL YOUR QUESTIONS TO.
COUNTY BOARD MEETING AT CO.SOMERSET.NJ.US.
THANK YOU. WELCOME, EVERYONE, TO THE SEPTEMBER 26TH MEETING.
LET'S PLEASE STAND FOR THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND REMAIN STANDING FOR REFLECTIONS.
PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND TO THE REPUBLIC, WHICH STANDS ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. MAY WE CONTINUE TO DO THE GOOD WILL OF THE PEOPLE OF SOMERSET COUNTY WITH GOOD GOVERNANCE FOR ALL PEOPLE AT ALL TIMES.
SO I'LL START OFF WITH WITH THE COMMITTEE REPORTS AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO WERE HONORED ON LAST THURSDAY WHEN WE HAD OUR SERVICE AWARD, RETIREMENT AND SERVICE AWARDS DINNER TO THE COMMITTEE WHO PUT THIS ON, YOU DID A PHENOMENAL JOB.
THE AMBIANCE, THE COMPANY CELEBRATING THOSE WHO DO THE WORK FOR SOMERSET COUNTY.
LAST THURSDAY, WE ALSO JOINED THE RETIREES TO RECOGNIZE THEIR INCREDIBLE SERVICE.
AGAIN, THIS WAS AT NATIRAR, AND IF EVERYONE THAT WAS IN ATTENDANCE, DID YOU HAVE A GOOD TIME? HAVE A GOOD TIME. IT WAS A GREAT TIME.
HAD 22 RETIREES WHO ATTENDED, REPRESENTING 578 YEARS TOTAL.
YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF SOMERSET COUNTY, AND THE LONGEST SERVING RETIREE WAS KATHLEEN HOLLEY, WHO RETIRED AFTER 40 YEARS OF SERVICE IN THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE.
SO, KATHLEEN, KUDOS TO YOU FOR THAT SPECIAL HONOR.
ALSO JOINED BY 62 EMPLOYEES WHO ARE CELEBRATING MAJOR WORK ANNIVERSARIES BETWEEN 10 AND 50 YEARS OF SERVICE, AND IN ALL THE SERVICE AWARD HONOREES, THEY REPRESENTED 1260 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COUNTY.
SO MOVING ON TO OUR 2023 ELECTION, I WANT TO MENTION THAT THE GENERAL ELECTION IS UNDERWAY IN NEW JERSEY, AND THE VOTERS WHO SIGNED UP TO VOTE BY MAIL SHOULD BE RECEIVING THOSE BALLOTS THIS WEEK.
I BELIEVE THEY WENT OUT FROM THE CLERK'S OFFICE FRIDAY.
SO THOSE WHO REQUESTED BALLOTS BY MAIL OR VOTE FOR VOTE BY MAIL, THEY WENT OUT ON FRIDAY.
ALTHOUGH IT IS AN ODD-NUMBERED YEAR, WE HAVE AN IMPORTANT ELECTION IN NEW JERSEY WITH EVERY SEAT IN THE LEGISLATURE ON THE BALLOT, AND THERE ALSO ARE COUNTY, MUNICIPAL AND SCHOOL BOARD RACES, AND IN A DEMOCRACY LIKE OURS, VOTING IS BOTH A RIGHT AND A PRIVILEGE EXCUSE ME, A RIGHT AND A DUTY.
PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE CLERK'S OFFICE.
[00:05:09]
PERSON ON NOVEMBER 5TH.SO AGAIN, NOVEMBER 7TH, NOVEMBER 7TH, I SHOULD HAVE MY READERS.
OKAY, NOVEMBER MAKE IT BIGGER, NOVEMBER 7TH.
SO I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD.
I SHOULD JUST BLOW IT UP OR OR PUT ON MY READERS, AND THAT'S ALL FOR MY REPORT AND THANK YOU.
THANK YOU. SO WE HAVE SOME JOB FAIRS COMING UP ON OCTOBER 3RD.

ALSO, I'M PLEASED TO SAY THAT DUKE FARMS JUST OPENED A PUBLIC ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING FACILITY FOR VISITORS AND ANYONE WHO NEEDS A CHARGE. IT'S BEING POWERED BY SOLAR ENERGY.
COMMISSIONER DRAKE AND I WERE AT THEIR RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY LAST WEEK, SO IT'S A NICE FACILITY.

WE WILL HAVE FOUR TOURISM KIOSKS INSTALLED IN NOVEMBER.
THERE WILL BE A DOWNTOWN SOMERVILLE IRON PEAK AND BRIDGEWATER COMMONS.
THE FOURTH WILL BE MOBILE THAT WE CAN TAKE TO EVENTS.
SO IF YOU HAVE EVER SEEN ONE OF THESE BEFORE, IT IS BASICALLY AN ELECTRONIC, I GUESS, LITTLE KIOSK STAND, BUT IT CAN HIGHLIGHT WHERE YOU WANT TO GO. SO IF YOU WANT TO VISIT AND STAY A LITTLE LONGER, YOU NEED A HOTEL, YOU NEED A RESTAURANT TO GO IN THE AREA.
YOU CAN DO THAT WITH JUST A FEW CLICKS AND YOU CAN FIGURE OUT WHERE YOU WANT TO VISIT IN SOMERSET COUNTY, AND IT'S TIED TO MAKING SURE THAT YOU COULD EVEN TAKE PICTURES WITH DIFFERENT LANDSCAPES OF WHETHER IT'S DUKE FARMS OR SOME OF THE BUCOLIC SCENES THAT WE HAVE IN SOMERSET COUNTY.

OKAY. SO I'M SURE COMMISSIONER DRAKE WILL TELL YOU ALL ABOUT THE INFLUENCING AG EVENT THAT WE ATTENDED LAST WEEK, WHICH WAS VERY WELL DONE, SO I'LL SAVE THAT FOR HIM. I CELEBRATED HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH OVER IN NORTH PLAINFIELD LAST WEEK.
THEY HAD A GREAT FESTIVAL, SOME WONDERFUL MUSIC THERE AND FANTASTIC FOOD.

SO REALLY NICE EVENT FOR THEM.
OUR HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE WE MAXED OUT.
